Here’s the point we all need to start making (shouting, really.)
It’s no longer acceptable to tell women to stand up, speak louder, or work harder to ‘get to the top.’ Instead, “we are in urgent need of men skilled at coaching other men how to adapt the system.” So says Avivah Wittenberg-Cox, in her controversially titled piece in Forbes. But the point she is making in her stats-loaded article about the game-changing power of women’s leadership is if you aren’t part of the solution, Bro…you’re the problem. Because if you continue to fall back on the bias to save you, you’re going to look like a real douche to the Blackrock’s, the AXA’s, “and others worth a combined US$13 trillion,” who “have publicly said they won’t invest in companies that don’t gender-balanced.”
Don’t be that guy.
